Reflection on Amal Fellowship
“Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive good things and good people will be drawn to you.” Mary Lou Retton Gymnast
Starting with a brief introduction is that Amal Fellowship is a Stanford University and PepsiCo supported 3-month online program to develop professional skills needed for a successful career and life. I initiated my fellowship after an intense application process that included many interviews. I am one of the fortunate people who secured a seat in this fellowship program. At first, I had no idea what was it about and what to expect from it.
I went there because one of my peers had already done a fellowship & for Resume development (which I saw from their website). I just jumped in it with the thought that let’s do it and let’s explore it. After two weeks of fellowship, I began to understand that this program is different from the traditional university setting. This program had diverse people from different cities, cooperative program managers, informative courses, and lots of positivity.
My group fellows in my group mega circle and other groups were so amazing and awesome. Learning is like two-way communication, you learn from them and others learn from you.
Amal introduced some principles that I can use in the future are
· Amal: Action or your intention of doing anything
· Khudi: relying on yourself and that you can change something
· Sabr: Patience; Progress might be slow but one should trust the process
· Ek aur Ek Gyara: the beauty of working in teams.
The new thing that I learned in Amal Academy was about “Gratitude”. I believe that this instance was important to me because one should be thankful. After all, it gives a positive vibe to the person as well as it gives good vibes to many others. So activities according to this were writing a gratitude email to your interviewers or writing a letter that you want to thank (no matter whether that person is junior or senior). The other thing that has impacted me during this fellowship is the idea of feedback. According to Amal feedback is the best gift that you can give back to somebody. The feedback should be constructive and should be done in a way that doesn’t hurt anybody rather it motivates them to improve themselves.
So Gratitude and Constructive feedback these two things have impacted me and I will make sure to use these actions in my daily life. In addition, a person with a positive mind or one who has a half-glass full mindset can view the world positively and he/she is always ready to accept new challenges.
In addition, this fellowship was also working on things that needed my attention was Resume writing, LinkedIn profile building, business writing, and some Excel skills (vlookup, roundup, if functions).
Conclusion: I found this fellowship super productive and positive. I do believe that everyone might have learned many new things and they might feel positive changes in them. I would always recommend my peers for this fellowship.
Thank you to all the Amal Fellows & Amal Team who made this experience great and memorable .
